UNIVERSAL SHAFT MOUNTED COMBINATIONS

The UMH is one of BLM’s Universal Shaft mounted style Centrifugal Clutches. It is designed to support the end of a universal shaft. This is achieved by mounting the centrifugal clutch on the shaft on the driven side.

A typical application for this style is municipal water treatment facilities. Where the primary system is powered by electricity, this centrifugal clutch is used on the back up diesel system which kicks in during a power outage. BLM recently replaced a universal shaft mounted clutch that had been in service for 48 years. WOW! What happened to built in obsolescence?
