Bearings
In clutch section are sealed and do not need lubrication.
Lining Inspection
Lining thickness can be checked visually through the observation holes from drive side. If lining is less than half the new thickness shown in Table 1, lining should be replaced.
Lining Replacement
Remove the rim as shown. Old lining can easily be removed by prying with a screwdriver. O.D. of blocks and I.D. of rim should be cleaned with a volatile solvent. Paper backing on new linings should be removed before placing lining in position. Remount rim with cap screws.
Outer Blocks
Slip rim back and remove linings. Unscrew socket head cap screws of block in upright position, replace outer block and tighten screws. Rotate clutch so that the next block comes in the upright position and replace block as described above.
Springs
Springs are accessible when outer block has been removed. When reassembling note particularly that hook spring mounts immediately inside of ring, while additional flat springs (if necessary for high idle) are inserted inside hook spring.
Rim
Should it be necessary to replace rim, remove attachment bolts and slip out complete clutch assembly.
Replace rim and re-assemble.
For replacement of other parts flanged covers and rim must be removed and clutch dropped out of position.
Rim Replacement
Rim replacement should be made if any one of the following problems occurs:
1. Heat Checking
2. Cracking
3. Warping
4. Scoring
5. Discolouring
