Maintenance – Type F & G

Size 32-54
Lining’s, blocks and springs can be inspected by removing the cover plate.

Bearing is a self lubricating bronze bearing and needs no lubrication except where frequent idling is required.

Do not over oil, a few drops will be sufficient since oil will contaminate linings and reduces capacity of clutch causing slippage.
Install new linings if this occurs.

Size 55 – 140 Type F
Linings can be inspected through observation vee slots. Remove rim to replace linings. Clean OD of block and ID of rim with volatile solvent. Remove poly liner from lining before placing in position. Blocks and springs can also be serviced this way. Blocks, linings, springs, etc. are available as an assembly called mechanism and can be replaced as a unit.

Size 55 – 100 Type G
Lining, outer block and springs can be serviced with rim removed. Clean OD of blocks and proceed as above.

Size 55 – 80 Type F
Bearings are double sealed and lubricated for life. For bearing replacement, remove vee sheave and 3 radial flat head cap screws holding “bearing” spacer in position. Remove drive body. Support rim and press mounting flange out of clutch. Remove retaining ring and push bearings off mounting flange through 2 push off holes in flange. Apply loctite bearing mount on ID of bearing before assembly. Reinstall 3 flat head cap screws into bearing spacer.

Size 100 – 140 Type F
To replace bearings, follow same procedure as for mounting vee sheave.

Size 50 – 80 Type G
Follow same procedure as Type F (size 55-80) but remove rim and drive body bolts, then bolt rim to back of clutch.

Size 100 – 140 Type G
Remove set screws and rim. Use 6 bolts through tapped holes in flange to press mounting flange out of position.
Use loctite bearing mount on ID of bearing before assembly.

Remove drive body to service blocks and springs.
